Srilanka Cricket team and squad

Srilanka played their first cricket on 1982 against England at P.Sara Oval, Colombo.Sri Lanka were first labeled as underdogs. But they have improved a lot in the beginning on 90's.They permanently deleted their Underdog status by winning 1996 world cup. Srilankan cricket team reached finals of the 2007 and 2011 world cups, but ended up as runner ups in both occasions.


Srilankan cricket has given many rare talents to the world of cricket like Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan,Mahela Jayawardene, Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga who played vital role in the winning performance of Srilanka from the past two decades. The Sri Lankan cricket team currently holds several world records, including world records for highest team totals in all three forms of the game, Test, ODI and Twenty20. Srilanka is currently ranked 6th in test cricket, 5th in ODI and 1st in T20.
On 2009 Srilankan team were attacked by terrorists in Lahore. This lead to five death of  policeman and seven players were injured including a coaching staff.

The Board for Cricket Control in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) is the governing body of Sri lankan Cricket team and conducts various domestic competitions and First class tournament Trophies within Srilanka.
