Bangladesh played their first test cricket match against India at Bangabandu national stadium, Dhaka on 10th November 2000. They played their first ODI match against Pakistan in the 1986 Asia Cup. Cricket was not one of the familiar games in Bangladesh. But gradually it gained momentum and became one of the biggest sports industry in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has played 77 test matches in which they have won only 3. In the game of cricket Bangladesh are still considered as a kid. However, the team has been more successful in ODI's as it has won 76 out of 270 matches.

Currently Bangladesh is ranked 9th in Test and ODI's, 10th in T20 format.
